NAD⁺ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) is a vital coenzyme found in every cell of the body. It plays a central role in cellular energy production, DNA repair, and the regulation of gene expression. Because of its involvement in these essential biological processes, NAD⁺ is often referred to as a key molecule in healthy aging and longevity.

Adequate levels of NAD⁺ are necessary for maintaining normal cellular metabolism and protecting genetic information. NAD⁺ also activates a group of enzymes known as sirtuins, often called “longevity proteins,” which are associated with cellular repair, metabolic balance, and resistance to age-related decline.

However, NAD⁺ levels naturally decrease with age. Research suggests that NAD⁺ concentrations peak in late adolescence and gradually decline throughout adulthood—dropping to roughly half by the age of 40 and to approximately 25% of peak levels by the age of 60. Reduced NAD⁺ availability may contribute to decreased cellular energy production, slower tissue repair, fatigue, and age-related functional decline.
